Oh...so it's going to be one of THOSE weeks....

So it's been a while.....

I went to Edmonton last week to see a concert and some old friends. I don't normally go to many concerts; I hate the crowds and the noise, especially the noise from the crowds. Luckily, I had backstage access and didn't have to put up with the "regular" people. My friend is the lead singer and while it's amazing to see him perform, it's equally amazing to see his fans. These girls would rip the flesh from his bones if they were given the chance. I don't think I've ever loved someone the way these girls love him. Completely insane, totally awesome.

The whole trip was like going back in time about 10 years, except this time I'm not a student and I actually have money. This allows me to make impulse purchases like a new MacBook Pro simply because there's no PST in Alberta. It was nice to stay up all night and get into all sorts of mischief again. Refreshing....but totally exhausting. Ten years ago, any trouble we would get into could be attributed to our young rebellious nature. Now, I'm too old to run from the cops and really, we all should know better, right? I won't get into any details, just know that it was fun.

So that was last week.....

This week hasn't held a candle to last week. Work, work, work and no fun. We're having a Friends & Family sale at our warehouse and it is busy! And some of the people that come to these sales are amazingly unpleasant. The sale is full of crazy good deals and people just don't appreciate it. When ever there are good deals, there are jerks. I'd like to know how these jerks got on our mailing lists? Whose friend or family member are you? You want to know what my name is to make a complaint? I want to know what your name is so I can take you off the list.
Bah!

Is it Friday yet?

I Am Not a Photographer, I Just Have A Camera

I've had my camera for almost a year now....and it's taken me this long to really enjoy it. I'm a slow starter, I need to get very comfortable doing new things. For example, having this blog spot for 4 months before throwing together my first rambling.

I took this picture on the island at Thanksgiving. Creepy, right? I had to get right up to it to take such a great picture. I love how you can see the web it's dangling from. It was so full of eggs. At one point it was on it's back and couldn't turn over. Poor thing....but don't worry, I returned her to her web.

Being on the island made for some great shooting. Unfortunately my dog followed me everywhere and just barked every time I took too long or wasn't paying enough attention to him. I will post the other pictures at some point, but not here.

I like where this is going, but please remember, I'm not a photographer. I just have a camera and I like to use it. Being a photographer is too much pressure. =)

The Truth...

There is a little truth behind every "just kidding", a little curiosity behind every "just wondering", a little knowledge behind every ,"I don't know" and a little emotion behind every "I don't care!"

Thought for the day....

"Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everybody I've ever known."
- Chuck Palahniuk, Invisible Monsters

What do you think? Are we only a smattering of personalities, ethics and traits derived from those around us? I'd like to think I'm not, but I see so much of my parents in me. I see little quirks I've picked up along the way from friends, school mates and coworkers. It's hard to say what about me is truly mine.

At least I can fall back on the fact that all those "efforts" from everybody make me original...

There is only one me and if I am the combined effort of everyone I've ever known, then I must be a fantastic, original and unique piece of work! Either that, or I'm just still working on figuring out who I am by trying out other people's shit along the way.

Kit Kat Deception....

The best part of October has to be the Hallowe'en candy. It starts popping up at stores all over. Plus, everything tastes better when it's miniature.

Someone at work brought in big variety box, Smarties, Aero, Coffee Crisp, etc. My personal favourite, the Kit Kat. Just the right amount of chocolate and wafers. I can honestly say I've never been let down by a Kit Kat before....then I got this one:

I'm not sure how clear the picture is, but I can assure you, there were NO crispy wafers inside. Just solid chocolate....

I felt gypped at first, then I felt special. And that's how I ended the day, feeling special.

It's the small things in life that make you the happiest, right?

Revelations....

I had a moment of brilliance the other night....

I think we have all done this at some point. A new relationship, a lot of insecurity and the strong desire to protect ourselves from getting hurt. We look for the things that are wrong with the other person as a way to prevent ourselves from getting too close to get hurt.

It's a common human error and a rather immature one. We are all looking for something perfect and we will keep searching until we realize it's the flaws in other people that we love and what we've been looking for all along.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have the guy that has everything and is everything you think you want, but perfection is overrated.

I want the guy that makes mistakes, has bad days and doesn't just let me win. I like to win all on my own sometimes.
